On November 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the withdrawal of three agricultural laws. Now the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) has written an open letter to PM Modi and asked him to fulfill 6 demands of farmers including MSP.

SKM wrote in the letter,

“Crores of farmers of the country heard your message to the nation on the morning of 19th November 2021, we noticed that after 11 rounds of talks you chose the path of unilateral declaration instead of bilateral solution. But we are happy that you have announced the withdrawal of all three agricultural laws. We hope that your government will fulfill this promise at the earliest and in full.”

In this open letter, the farmers have further written that the repeal of the three black laws is not their only demand. During the talks with the government, the SKM had raised some other demands as well.

6 demands of farmers

1. The MSP based on the entire cost of cultivation (C2+50%) should be made a legal entitlement of all farmers, above all agricultural produce, so that every farmer in the country has to pay at least the minimum declared by the government on his entire crop. To get guarantee of purchase at support price. (The committee formed under your chairmanship had given this recommendation to the then Prime Minister in 2011 and your government had also announced about it in Parliament.)

2. Withdraw the draft of the “Electricity Act Amendment Bill, 2020/2021” proposed by the government (during the talks, the government had promised that it would be withdrawn, but then it was included in the list of business in the Parliament. .)

3. The provisions of punishment to farmers in the “Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and its associated areas Act, 2021” should be removed. (This year the government removed some anti-farmer provisions, but through section-15, again the scope of punishment has been made to the farmer.)

4. Thousands of farmers have been implicated in hundreds of cases during this movement (from June 2020 till now) in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and many other states. These cases should be withdrawn immediately.

Ajay Mishra Teni, the mastermind of Lakhimpur Kheri murder case and accused of section 120B, is still roaming freely and remains a minister in your cabinet. He is also sharing the stage with you and other senior ministers. They should be sacked and arrested.

6. During this movement so far about 700 farmers have given martyrdom. There should be a system of compensation and rehabilitation of their families. To build a martyr memorial in the memory of the martyr farmers, land should be given on the Indus border.

SKM said – the movement will continue

In this letter, the United Kisan Morcha has clearly told PM Modi that until the government does not talk about these 6 demands and a solution is not found, the agitation will continue. In the letter, the farmer leaders wrote,

“Prime Minister, you have appealed to the farmers that now we should go back home. We want to assure you that we are not fond of sitting on the road. We also want to settle these remaining issues at the earliest, and return to our homes, families and farming. If you also want the same, then the government should immediately start talks with the United Kisan Morcha on the above six issues. Till then, the United Kisan Morcha will continue this movement according to its pre-determined program.
