It is a matter of shame but it has to be said with pride that the governments of the states where the number of Hindus is less can declare them as a minority. That is, Hindus have become a minority in the country of Hindus. This is the reason why questions are also being raised that can Hindus get minority status in Hindu-majority India? If the state governments give minority status to Hindus, what will be the basis and how will it benefit Hindus?
This case is such that in the state or country in which the population of the religious sect whose population is small, that is, those people i.e. people with a small number of people are considered to be minorities. But this is probably not the case in India. The spectacle here is different and what about the politics and the constitution.
For example, like a Muslim country, “Qatar” has a population of about 29 lakhs. Of this, 68% are Muslims, while the remaining 32% are all people. Now if someone asks who is the minority in Qatar, then everyone will have the same answer with 32% people. But this is not the case in India, here only a small number of people are counted as a majority in many states. For example, in Lakshadweep, 96% are Muslims and 2% are Hindus. But in the official figures, 96% Muslims are minority and 2% Hindus are counted in the majority.
Similarly, there is a state of Northeast India, Nagaland, here 88% of the people believe in Christianity and about 8% Hindu. But in Nagaland too, 88% Christians are minority people in the government figures and Hindus with eight percent come in majority. Sikhs constitute 58% and Hindus 38% of the population in Punjab. But even here Hindus are counted in the majority. Not only Hindus, but also Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Parsis and Jains are not considered as minorities in Punjab.
Apart from this, there are 68% Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir but all of them are minorities. In Assam 34% Muslims are minority, in West Bengal 27% Muslims are but minorities. Similarly, more Muslims live in Uttar Pradesh than Iraq, if Muslims in Iraq start asking for minority status, people will laugh and go crazy, but in UP, Muslims are a minority.
The biggest joke in this is that in India, there are twenty to twenty-five crore Muslims in the minority and only 6 thousand are the majority of Judaism. Now understand it in this way also, till the year 2014, only 5 sects have got minority status at the national level. There were Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis. That is, even then the Jain community with a population of 44 lakhs seemed to be the majority in the government. In 2014, the central government admitted that Jains were also a minority. Otherwise everyone is being told only one thing that 25 crore Muslims are in minority. Perhaps after this the Maharashtra government opened its eyes a little and recognized that the Jews living in the number of a few thousand in Maharashtra are also in small numbers, then gave them the status of being a minority.
In this case, senior Supreme Court advocate Ashwini Upadhyay has been fighting for the past several years by filing a petition in the Supreme Court of the country and challenging the validity of the National Commission for Minorities Act 1992 and the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions.
Now in such a situation, a question comes that if there are eight to nine states of the country where Hindus are a minority, if they get the status of being less number then what will be the benefit. To understand this, first understand the picture of the country a little and understand the advantage of being a minority. On the one hand, the constitution of the country says that there will be no discrimination on the basis of religion and caste. But the proof of discrimination is the scholarships which are given to the children of minorities on religious grounds. In these five years from 2016 to 2021 alone, about 3 crore scholarships have been given by the Government of India. Out of them, Muslim students alone have got 2 crore 30 lakh scholarships. Christian students have got 37 lakhs, Sikhs 25 lakhs, Buddhists 7 lakhs, Jains 4 lakhs, Parsis about 5 thousand scholarships. Even though the BJP government is alleged to be anti-Muslim, the above figure completely refutes this argument. And now it is also told that Muslim girl students will also get Begum Hazratmahal scholarship. On this, the government has so far spent about 10 thousand crores. have spent. This amount is expected to double in the next five years.
That is, in the year 1992, the Minorities Commission was constituted to improve the social and economic condition of the minorities. The one who is doing his work continuously, then why not Hindu children in those states which are less number, why should all the Rewari be distributed to them only. Being a minority means they get prominence at the time of reservation in government jobs, cheap loans from banks and admission in minority status educational institutions. For example, Jamia Millia Islamia University has got the status of a religious minority institution. Here about 50 percent seats are reserved for the children of Muslim society. That is, Jai Bhim Jai Meem does not run here. Here caste based quota system does not work or say Dalit reservation does not work in Muslim University. Why only one Jamia Millia Islamia, there are many minority institutions like Aligarh Muslim University in the country. Dalit reservation does not work in anyone. The biggest thing is that the government also helps separately in opening such institutions for the minority society.
Today there are about 8 states and union territories in the country where the Hindu population is less than 50 percent. These include Manipur, Punjab, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Lakshadweep and Mizoram. That is, the demand for giving minority status to Hindus in states where there is no Hindu majority is very old. This issue is being raised since the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. But the central government was avoiding it. Now the Supreme Court is taking cognizance on this, in future it will be known what will happen or not. It is just a matter of shame that Hindus have to fight in the courts to reduce themselves by being a minority in their country.
