A statement issued by the US Defense Ministry said the two leaders discussed recent attacks by Houthi rebels that have killed some UAE citizens. The Pentagon says that questions have also been raised about the security of US and UAE soldiers due to the attack by Houthi rebels. Defense Minister Lloyd Austin emphasized that the US remains committed to its strategic partnership with the UAE.
According to the US Defense Ministry, the US will send the missile destroyer USS Cole to the UAE, which will work with the Navy there. The US Defense Minister also informed the Crown Prince of the UAE that the US is also deploying fighter aircraft to help him. Last month, Houthi rebels launched a drone attack on the UAE, in which three people were killed.
