“In Georgetown, Guyana, paid tributes to the Arya Samaj monument. Their role in preserving our culture in Guyana is indeed commendable. This is also a very special year because we are marking the 200th Jayanti of Swami Dayanand Saraswati.” The Arya Samaj first arrived in Guyana in the early 1900s with the teachings of Swami Dayanand, but grew rapidly after 1910 with the arrival of Maharshi Dayanand’s great disciple and revolutionary Bhai Parmanand. In 1921, the first Arya Samaj was formed in Guyana. The Arya Samaj was formed in 1929 after another disciple of Maharshi Dayanand, Pandit Mehta Jaimini, arrived in Guyana and Pandit Bhaskarananda arrived in 1935 and stayed in Guyana for ten years, organizing various samaj. The American Aryan League, the parent body for all Arya Samajs in Guyana, was founded. Pandit Usharbuddha Arya then arrived in 1955 and founded the Arya Veer Dal, the youth organisation of the Arya Samaj.
