He not only preached against the superstitions spread in the society like deceased Shradh, hypocrisy etc. but also did many debates. It is said that in 1897 a wave of separatism started among the ignorant Sikhs. A Sikh writer by the name of Kahan Singh tried to separate the Sikh sect from the Hindu society by writing a book in the name of “We are not Hindus”, then Sardar Arjun Singh wrote the answer titled “Our Guru was the foot (follower) of the Vedas”.
