Protests were seen not only in Kolkata but all over the country in the case of brutality with the doctor. Doctors of many cities went on strike. After the order of the High Court, the investigation of the case was handed over to the CBI. Now the CBI is uncovering the layers of this case. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court also took suo motu cognizance of this case and formed a task force. The court made strong comments during the hearing. After the Kolkata incident, once again the talk is about rape, sexual harassment, sexual violence, molestation against women, from which no one is untouched, be it a girl, a young or an old woman3! The whole country is shocked by the brutality with the doctor in Kolkata. The condition of girls is even worse. The country is diving into the ocean of development and women have to find such a way to hide and escape where they are simply safe3 After the incident of rape and murder of a junior female doctor in Kolkata, West Bengal, various things are coming to the fore regarding RG Kar Medical College. Today this question is in front of everyone, whether it was the monsters who brutalized Nirbhaya years ago, or the brutality done to a student of Kotkhai in Shimla district while returning from school, the case of Hathras or Kasganj in UP, brutality is the same everywhere. The rapists and the brutalizers may have been from different states, their languages were different, their attire was different, but their thinking was the same. And today the question is also the same that from where are these criminals with similar thinking thriving in this India? Who is feeding this brutal thinking?
You should study deeply, before the seventies you will hardly find any movie in Hindi cinema that promoted the culture of rape, but from the next decade onwards, be it dialogue or scene in Hindi cinema, it seems as if Hindi cinema has become soft porn. Bold content served in these films. The story of which may not be understood by the audience, but these films are full of bold and adult scenes. In the year 1997, the movie Aastha: In the Prison of Spring was released. In this movie, Rekha had given extremely bold scenes. The audience was shocked to see them. After this, recently, despite being a very violent film, ‘Animal’ was presented to the society. A woman was treated like an animal. She was not just presented as a sister, daughter or mother but as a body object. If such violent films are made in which the main character is involved in violent activities, then in which direction will the youth go? Certainly, this is a matter of great concern. Why are such films being made? How does the censor board sitting under the government give permission to release such films? Has the film industry gone out of control?
This is not just the first or the last movie. Many years ago a movie named “Khalnayak” was released. The youth were hell bent on becoming like villains. Movies like “Darr” and “Anjaam” gave a lot of encouragement to one-sided love and the feeling of revenge. Imran Hashmi starrer movie “Murder” was released, this movie had no message except serving bold scenes. Apart from this, you must remember Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia starrer movie “Julie”. In the movie, it was shown that boys repeatedly sexually exploit Julie. The movie “Jism 2” released in the year 2012 also joined the list of bold content, in the movie Sunny Leone gave extremely bold scenes.
The question is for whom is this movie being served in the society. What benefit does the society get from this apart from the movie producer, actor or actress? Rather, people with criminal tendencies and corrupt mentality get strength in the society. They feel that if their hero, the star of the acting world can commit rape and murder, then they can also follow them.
Some time ago, Kabir Singh movie was released. Kabir is a young man who is independent. He has his own thoughts. He lives on them. He expresses all his feelings openly. He does not understand social rules. The goal of his life is only to have sex. After all, what is the need for such a movie?
This is the reason that society is changing by watching them. Society has started liking violence more? This is what seems to be the case after watching Kabir Singh and the film Animal. Despite being an extremely violent film, many people liked it. Think, what kind of mentality the people who liked it would have? These are some questions on which the society needs to think and ponder collectively. Such films will create animals in the society instead of creating good citizens.
Apart from this, social media and OTT platforms are the main cause of rape. It is necessary to stop the content being served on it. Society will have to unite against those who are serving vulgarity in the name of entertainment. There should be an ethics code in the form of law. Also, there should be a limited limit on the scenes, themes, clothes and language. Even after this, if any director, producer, actor, actress and photographer violates the rules, a case of inciting rape should be registered against them.
Think about it, won’t such content make India a poor country in terms of culture? If content is served in this way, then India’s condition can become like America. There should be creative experiments in films, but the film industry should avoid experiments like ‘Animal’. Society should collectively register its protest against such films. Violence in films can be justified to a certain extent. If films like ‘Animal’ keep being made, then it won’t take long for youth who behave like ‘animals’ to flourish in society. This is the reason that today in some part of the country, some girl or the other is screaming to save her honour. Although we take pride in our country’s culture and civilization, but after knowing what has happened here in the last 10 days after the Kolkata incident, you too will probably think that we have nothing to be proud of.
After the death of the junior doctor in Kolkata, when protests started all over the world, even then rape was happening in some corner of India. This case came to light on 9th August and by 10th August, 4 rape cases had already been reported. These are only the reported cases that came in the news. According to the report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), an average of 86 rape cases are reported in India every day. With one rape every 16 minutes, the incidents of rape and sexual assault are increasing day by day in India. According to this average, 2580 to 2666 rapes happen in a month. In such a situation, 31,390 rape cases come to light in a year. These are the reported cases and apart from these, there would be many such cases which would not have been reported.
While on one hand the whole world is ready to raise its voice against this matter, on the other hand, so many barbaric beasts are still roaming in India. The same voice is coming from every corner of the country that how can we call ourselves a prosperous society amidst so many crimes. Various political arguments are being given for all the incidents happening in our country, but the only result is that crimes against women are increasing in the country, there is no sign of them decreasing. It is the call of the time, everything should stop. Do not rely on the governments, this work cannot be done only by the government, efforts should be made at the social level as well. Otherwise, some Abhaya of Kolkata, some Nirbhaya of Delhi, some Gudiya of Kotkhai will be heard screaming.
